I would use technology is a way that not only would be fun but facilitate learning in the classroom. I would use power point, publisher, and blogs to show my students that projects can be more than cutting and pasting with scissors or glue. Copy and paste would be way more fun than the traditional way of doing a project. Technology is where we are now in the real world. What better way to research for a school paper or learn more on any given subject. The internet is full of wonderful information for all kinds of fun activities. My students will benefit from the 21st century skills and enjoy it at the same time. I know I have!
I will facilitate learning into l technology by mixing technology into my day. In this class we have had many different learning experience with technology incorporated into learning. A great way to incorporate technology into learning is through graphic organizers MS publisher and of course online games which would be great at a learning center. Technology is one of the best and easiest ways to research and using online resources with text is a great mix. As a teacher power point presentation area great way to use for a teaching tool along with other materials.
I would facilitate learning with technology by making a computer center. There my students would be able to learn through different activies and games that are found on the internet. Power point presentations could be used rather than a traditional research paper. There are math websites that help students learn their math facts, word problems, equations and etc. They even have interactive games that could be used with a smartboard. Computers are, and can be a great asset to the teaching and learning process of our students now and in the future.
As a teacher, I plan to use PowerPoint presentations in my instruction to provide a wonderful visual for my students. I will have my students perform different projects that are technology-based, such as creating their own PowerPoint and Publisher presentations. I will incorporate writing by have my students write rough drafts on paper and allowing them to print some of them in Word. I would also enjoy having them create class books using Word that we could laminate and keep in our class library. I will also use computers as a center where they can perform learning activities that they really enjoy on sites that are teacher approved.
Today, there are so many ways to facilitate learning through the use of technology. There are personal computers, smart boards, leap pads, cameras, etc. Kids could do WEBquests, make publications and presentations, and various educational games and resources. As a future teacher, I am so excited about using these different technologies in my classroom. I love using them myself, and I know that my students will love it too.
As a future teacher I plan to integrate technology into my lessons and daily activities throughout the day. I will use the personal computers in my classroom and a smart board (if I have one) as centers. Students will use the computers to access the World Wide Web to conduct research for any projects. I will use PowerPoint, Word and Publisher in my classroom so my students can display their work…students will love this as it’s not just writing it on a piece of paper.
There are so many ways that I as a future can integrate and facilitate technology into my classroom and I cannot wait to use all the different technologies that will be at my fingertips with my students. I agree with Kim that I love using technology and I know my students will to!
I agree with all of the comments that there are so many ways a teacher or I as a teacher can facilitate technology into the everyday curriculum activities depending on grade level and learning capability. Ways such as smartboard, overhead projectors,ikis-a great tool, power-point presentations, newsletter publications, and the list could go on but actually, it's what the school has to offer in technology that as a teacher you will have to use to help motivate students to want to learn, product quality work, and use what they have learned in real life. For the most part, the majority of schools in Polk County have at the most 4 computers to a classroom. Given this scenario, technology can be incorporated in center work with a structured project approach and ikis can be used for lesson instructions for the whole class; graphs can be used for just about any topic on any level of learning.
All the above techniques can excite and enhance student learning.
I will continue to challenge myself to incorporate technology into the learning process. I believe it inspires and motivates students. I love word processing tools (writing and editing is so much easier), PowerPoint, publisher and the smartboard. But I also want to incorporate blogs or wikis and have a goal of having the students do some embedded recordings on the school music website of let's say maybe a class rap.
The students still learn the objectives and can be more creative and have more of a say in how they demonstrate that they have accomplished those objectives.
Personally, I know the presentations we have had to do in this EDU230 class would not have been as creative, looked nearly as good or been as interesting if I would not have been able to use the computer technology.
When I am in the classroom, I will use technology everyday in my lesson plans. I plan on giving the students opportunities to explore independently on the internet with a computer center. I will have pre-approved websites that go along with the theme that we are studying and allow my students to research within these web sites. I will also use technology in my lesson plans by presenting my students with power point presentations with important information and helpful graphics that illustrate the topic that we are discussing. I feel that power point presentations are a great way for students to visualize new information and the presentations will help them to remember important facts. I also plan to have a class web site that students and parents will be able to access from home. I will post information about what we are learning about in our classroom and all of the important assignments that we are working on in the room. Most importantly, I will post all homework assignments for the week on the web site. My students will not be able to use the excuse that they forgot they had an assignment and parents will be able to monitor the work that the students are supposed to be completing. My classroom will be full of technology that I feel will be very helpful for my students’ learning
As a helping teacher, I've started using Eiki machines and reading the news from the Internet for students. This gets kids reading and discussing current events. I am also now more open to creating power point presentions for lessons as opposed to writing out everything. Utilizing clips will also be incorporated into my lessons. All of these forms of technology will enhance my lessons and expose my students to the amenities of the 21st century.
As a teacher, I believe that technology should facilitate learning. Because of technology’s importance, facilitating it in the classroom seems to be the most realistic and advantageous thing to do. When doing so, teachers could use many options such as PowerPoint, Publisher, Blogs, and many others alike. As teachers integrate such programs into the learning experience, students see that learning subject area content can be fun and exciting. In the same way, it allows students to exhibit their creative and innovative personalities. What better way for teachers to evaluate what they assign to their students?
I think that we are so lucky in this day and age because we have use of all of this amazing technology that wasn't available in years past. I hope to be able to incorporate technology in every aspect of my teaching so that I can use it to enhance my lessons and not to use it as a special addition every once in a while. I will use power point in my classroom, email, and maybe even a class blog site. There are many technology tools I would like to use on a daily basis and only hope to have the access to these when that time comes. This class has taught me so much and I want to be able to use all I have learned with my kids.
In my classroom, I believe in "practice what you preach". If I ask students to do work, it is useful and purposeful. I want to exhibit that by using technology more myself in front of the students. I intend to allow more independent work time using computer activities. I also will use PowerPoint more to teach students.
If technology is in my classroom, it wont be in there for the "sake of technology", it will have to prove a good method to get the material across. I don't want to seem like I am trying to push technology out of my room, I just understand the reality of the teaching tools in my classroom. If computers are present, I'd find a way to present the material in that way. It all just depends on if the technology is there.
As a facilitator I will try to establish a classroom that is student-centered through the use of technology. I will teach my students where to go for answers through the use of internet resources. I will encourage students to share their ideas and learn from one another by creating a classroom blog. I will also encourage students to effectively demonstrate their learning through technology. I believe that by integrating programs such as Publisher and PowerPoint, students will feel more engaged in the classroom and it will also develop their own creativity.
I believe that technology is a very important thing for students to learn. I would facilitate learning with technology in my classroom by giving the students fun projects that requires them to safely search the internet for information and pictures. I would teach students how to find sound clips and write music using their computer. I think that knowledge of technology is one of the most important things that we must have as students.
I will try my best to incorporate technology into the class room by using detailed videos such as Science videos on soundwaves to help students understand the concepts that have to do with intonation and also use music software to broaden the types of music that we are teaching.
Technology helps teachers get their students excited about learning, while their students are unaware that they're even learning. Also, it's very easy through the use of technology to have students work collaboratively on assignments or group projects. In addition, through the use of smart boards, teachers can interactively present their lectures. Furthermore, students can even have interactive learning stations through power point presentations. For example, students can help each other study for tests by making power point presentations that have quiz questions to test their peers on.
Therefore, in my classroom I will use power point to teach third graders the basics of music. I will show them different instruments, grouped into families, in which they will be playing. On the slides, I will also have the proper playing position, and how to make a characteristic tone on their instrument. For each instrument, I could have sound and video clips of how the instrument is supposed to sound when played properly.
Also, using power point I could show my students the basics to reading music. I could explain different time signatures, like 3/4 and 4/4, and key signatures, like C Major and F Major. In addition, I could also talk about different note values, such as how many beats a quarter note gets in common time. I could talk about how to read notes on a staff. For example, on one slide I would put the names of notes on the lines of the treble cleff: E, G, B, D, and F, and I would put with it an acronym to help them remember it- "Every Good Boy Does Fine".
Furthermore, using a graphic organizer I would quiz my students on how the instruments of an orchestra are divided into various families, such as woodwinds, brass, percussion, and strings. I would have one instrument family name in each bubble, and the students would be asked to list at least three instruments in each family.
In addition, I would send reminder e-mails to my students to help them remember when assignments are due. Also, once a week I would have the students answer a blog question that I would post to help get them thinking about the different musical elements that either we would be studying or reminding them of previous elements that we had already studied in preparation for a test.
Hence, there are many effective and effecient ways that I would implement technology in my classroom. These technology opportunities for my students would help them keep up to date on the latest in technology, while learning some of the basics of music.
When I become a music teacher, I will try to integrate music and technology to the best of my ability. I will show my students how to use programs like Finale, which is a computer program in which you can write music, listen to it, and perform several more actions dealing with music. Because most of my teaching is going to deal with rehearsing music and understanding it, I probably won’t spend a lot of time doing PowerPoints in band, choir, etc…but I will try to have some sort of an assignment in which the students have to complete a PowerPoint which, for example, explains what they have learned thus far in their music classes, and where they expect to go with their music career.
For my particular classes, I would facilitate learning with technology by making it a supplement to the course instead of an outside tool. E-mail would be utilized for announcements and communication of students and teacher. Projects would be created with power point and Windows Movie Maker (as it has to do with music). There are also programs like Finale where the students can create their own music. It depends on what is being taught in the class to determine the technology that would be used, but regardless there is always technology available for use no matter the subject.
I will facilitate learning with technology by having students do intensive research with the internet, produce detailed PowerPoint presentations, and utilize modern technology for the progress of EDUCATION!
As a teacher I will facilitate technology by having students use music theory programs on the computer and also do project-based research on the internet.
As a teacher i will facilitate learning with technology by implementing technology to my daily class. I also will set up a computer station in to allow the students to interact with technology everyday.I also will give assignments which use technology
I would integrate as many useful new technologies in my classroom as possible. I have become fascinated by the smartboard this year and believe that every classrom should have one. Projects using different multimedia software like Movie Maker and Audacity, as well as Microsoft Office, would also be a good way to integrate technology into the classroom.
Blog #6 Facilitating Learning with Technology We are living in the age of technology. Today, technology in education implies more than simply having a computer in your classroom. When used properly, technology can be an extremely effective tool in the classroom for teaching and learning. I plan to incorporate technology into my music classroom as much as possible. I will use a recording device like the Zoom recorder to record my classes and rehearsals. I will also have a sound system to play these recordings back on. By recording my classes, I will be able to evaluate if my students learned what I was teaching. It will also be helpful in preparing for concerts and music performance assessments to critically analyze my ensembles. Additionally, students will be able to listen to their recordings and evaluate their performances. If I have access to a Smart Board in my classroom, I will definitely utilize this interactive and engaging tool. With the Smart Board, you literally have everything at your fingertips as a teacher. If I do not have access to a Smart Board, I will use PowerPoint presentations to present information in a interesting and interactive way. At the beginning of the presentation, I would include the objectives for the lesson and the standards we were covering. There is also a lot of great music software which facilitates students’ learning. Some software programs I plan to use include Smart Music, Finale, and Music Ace or Practica Musica. Smart Music is an accompaniment tool which accompanies students on solo pieces for their instrument. Finale is a music notation tool. It can be used to allow students to express their musical ideas. Practica Musica is a game where students can practice their aural and written music theory skills.
